Artistic Vision
London is a world centre for performance and composition, and yet the options for professionals to meet and perform with other actors and writers are really limited. London Bites is designed to provide an informal atmosphere in which performers and writers can demonstrate their work, free from the constraints and pressures of the conventional showcase…it’s a professional, yet informal opportunity for actors to take part in a new medium for their work.
The ‘Stand Up Drama’ concept is celebrated on 2 levels:
‘Stand Up Drama provides the platform for new British acting talent and writing.’
Britain’s Drama schools and universities educate and nurture some of the finest actors in the world but once graduated even a RADA or Central student faces what seems an impossible task of securing an agent and then work.
Stand Up Drama gives actors the invaluable opportunity to display their talent to friends, family, theatre-goers and more importantly industry professionals such as Agents, Casting Directors and Producers with the benefit of hopefully securing work or at the very least improving their craft. Many actors also write their own material or have material written for them specifically and Stand Up Drama encourages this.
‘It’s a revolutionary way to watch drama’.
Top Floor @ Turnmills’s provides a relaxed informal venue in which the audience is not restricted to tight rows, they may drink and smoke at their leisure, sit close to the stage or near the back and of course party until the early hours after the show has finished. The central location also provides easy access for all theatre goers.
The show has a similar format to stand up comedy in that each of our actors will perform for a short time and with a different style and subject. If you do not like one piece you are sure to like the next – Stand Up Drama caters for all tastes. Some will make you laugh, others cry and at the end of the show the audience is asked to participate by making suggestions to the actors during the hilarious improvisation games.
